Spiral Rhythm ~ 28 Pagan Musicians In 28 Days Series 2012

spiral rhythm 1

While Spiral Rhythm’s albums are wonderful, this is another group that is best experienced live at one of their concerts.  It is really quite a deeply moving experience inspiring most people to rise up on their feet and dance to music with a tribal beat with a gospel flavor.  When I saw them in concert, they also had Kira dancing several songs and she is mesmerizing and extremely talented. Spiral Rhythm began as a group of friends singing around bonfires in the Atlanta, Georga and Asheville, North Carolina areas. Over the next ten years, they developed their unique sound complete with … Continue reading

Paul Giovanni ~ 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days Series 2012

Paul Giovanni

Who could ever forget the famous Willow’s Song by the temptress in The Wickerman?  Or the Maypole dance?  Or the fertility fire dance?  The movie helped bring paganism back out of the living room and into nature where it belongs. One of the most influential and popular films in the Pagan and Wiccan Community is the 1973 The Wicker Man movie.  Both the movie and Paul Giovanni are an important part of our pagan cultural history and have had a strong following in the Community through the present day.  It is worthwhile to take the time to watch and read interviews … Continue reading

Blackmore’s Night ~ 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days Series 2012

Blackmore 3

Inkubus Sukkubus ~ 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days Series 2012

Ink 1

Inkubus Sukkubus is often described as British goth and is actually one of the first bands to have been labeled as a “pagan rock” band. Yet, over the years they have developed their own distinctive style which diverged from the earlier folk style pagan music of other artists while still maintaining pagan themes and a Celtic flavor. As such, they became and have continued to be extremely popular in the Pagan and Wiccan Community over the year. The band formed in the summer of 1989 when Tony McKormack, Candia Ridley and Adam Henderson met at college studying graphic design. They shared an interest in paganism, witchcraft and vampirism … Continue reading
