Shoutout to New Upcoming Pagan & Wiccan Musicians & Bands from

The 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days Series was an amazing experience. I had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people from the musicians themselves to podcasters, writers, and so many people from the Community. Without all of your support, help, and contributions, it would have not have been the success that it was; therefore, I really want to thank everyone for making this such a wonderful experience. Muwah! This series has really inspired a lot of potential directions for the website including some pretty great future series such as the New Pagan Musicians series, a second 28 Pagan … Continue reading

S.J. Tucker ~ 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days Series 2012

Tucker 2

And for the last day of this Pagan Music Series, we simply had to feature S. J. Tucker (a/k/a Sooj, Skinny White Chick).  She has an amazing powerhouse voice that inspires almost every audience member to get up on their feet and dance to her songs and melodies. Sooj is a North American singer-songwriter from Arkansas. In 1999, she formed her first band called Skinny White Chick. Her first album, Haphazard, was released in 2005, and she has provided the Pagan and Wiccan Community with a steady stream of albums through to her recent 2011 release of Rootless. She is also well-known on … Continue reading

Mead Muse Interview ~ Pagan Musings Podcast Channel 02/27/2012

I’m being interviewed tonight at 7:00 p.m. CST on the Pagan Musings Podcast Channel about the 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days Series, pagan music generally, and other sorts of frivolities and fun! Should be interesting because I’m a writer who usually does the interviewing.  Phil promises to be kind, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to make an ass of myself anyway to the delight and amusement of my stalkers.  What?  I’m a muse.  That’s what I do. Be sure to stalk me by clicking HERE for tonight’s show.  If it’s not informative, it should be pretty darn funny.  You … Continue reading

Tori Amos ~ 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days Series 2012

toriamos 4

There’s something about the voice of Tori Amos that reaches inside of you, slipping quietly past your defenses, and carresses a listerner’s soul strings.  She is another one of the few mainstream artists that has wide recognition and popularity in the Pagan and Wiccan Communities.  I have personally spent long afternoons enjoying her vocal range and talents. There’s plenty on-line about Tori and her amazing accomplishments, so I decided to share a couple of comments about her music from people in the Pagan and Wiccan Community. Think she is a beautiful person, I love her voice, her hair, her attitude She’s … Continue reading

Damh the Bard ~ 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days Series 2012

Damh 5

Damh the Bard (Dave Smith) has a truly interesting history. From his earliest years, Dave always had an intense interest in music (which I personally believe has emerged from some past life influences).  He played his first live concerts at the age of 11 in pubs on the Isle of Wight and continued into his teen years with several rock bands (including one named Targa). In the 1990′s, he was trained as a Bard, poet and storyteller in the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids, where he found his artistic expression within folk music, forming band Spiral Castle for a support … Continue reading

Treblehawk ~ 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days Series 2012

Treb 4

Along with firmly established musicians, I wanted to include a band I believe will have up and coming musical potential in the Pagan and Wiccan music arena.  Treblehawk is well-known in the Florida Pagan gathering and festival circuit, but has yet to emerge through into the wider Pagan music scene, although I suspect it won’t be much longer before it does so. Brian Morse formed Treblehawk after taking a break from working with Shining Wheel Pagan Chorus.  As a fairly new group, their songs have crossed a variety of genres, but seems to be settling into a style similar to mainstream Southern Rock and Blues.  Currently … Continue reading

The Moors ~ 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days Series 2012

Moors 2

The Moors are Goth-trance-rock band from Boston which started performing in the late 1980′s and released their first and only album together in 1990.  The Moors featured Sharynne MacLeod NicMhacha (Vocals, woodwinds, strings, percussion) and Scott Dakota (wide-range fretless guitar, loops and electronic treatment, percussion).   Both have pursued their own various projects since. In this album, they combined Celtic, medieval and modern music in a unique and modern rock genre, featuring primal percussion and haunting winds and vocals. Sharynne MacLeod NicMhacha is a Celtic priestess, scholar and bard of Scottish, Irish and Welsh ancestry, and a direct descendant of ‘Fairy Clan’ … Continue reading
