Phoenix Phyre Ostara 2012 ~ Sunday 03/25/12 & Post Game Thoughts

Closing ritual was held on Sunday morning at Phoenix Phyre, but I didn’t attend because, as I am sure everyone has figured out at this point, I don’t do morning anything well. Phoenix Phyre Ostara 2012 ~ Saturday 03/24/12

Saturday was another stumble to the First Aid Tent for a cup of coffee and a period of malaise in a camp chair. (I’m so predictable in the mornings.) Then, we headed off to walk around for a little bit stopping by to see the Rupert’s Tales show that Kyrja & Randy presented at Phoenix Phyre. Our son thoroughly enjoyed the tales and songs. Zombies in Florida? Who knew?

Apparently, there has been an outbreak of zombies in Florida lately which begets an important question in the Community.  Should we accept zombies as a group under the category of Pagans? Pagans and Wiccans have long held a policy of non-discrimination in their religious beliefs.  We warmly welcomed those that have been considered the outcasts and unwanted from the mainstream and have been blessed by the strength, commitment and dedication those people have brought to our religious beliefs.  But Zombies?  Do we have a place for Zombies?  Regardless, you have to admit that we do love our walking dead. I received a lot of feedback that there was a need for a Florida Pagan Weekly on upcoming events, happenings, deadlines, drumming circles, etc. and we are going to have a regular feature on Wednesday called Florida Pagan Weekly starting this Wednesday. Upcoming Festivals – Florida Pagan & Wiccan Scene (Spring 2012) Phoenix Phyre & FPG

Phoenix Phyre (03/21 – 03/25/12 Lakeland, Florida) Over the years, Phoenix Phyre has changed locations throughout the State of Florida in past years, but has seemed to settle into Lakelad, which is more convenient for South Florida Pagans & Wiccans. Last time I attended this festival, we found ourselves just over the state line into Georgia.  Phoenix Phyre has always tended to attract a strong elder (“wise ones” not old people) base from the Community and we have a wonderful time catching up with old friends we hadn’t seen in a long, long time as well as meeting many more new friends.
