Pentangle ~ 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days Series 2012


Pagans and Wiccan do love medieval revivial folk music and one the more popular early bands of the folk culture coming from the 1960′s is the band Pentangle. The original Pentangle band (1967–1973) consisted of Jacqui McShee (vocals), John Renbourn (guitar), Bert Jansch (guitar), Danny Thompson (double bass), and Terry Cox (drums). Renbourn had a fascination with the Middle English poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and considered the Pentangle image to represent the original five members.  Their style has been described folk baroque and the music often reflected medieval music and themes, along with some “Catholic” flavor.  The … Continue reading
