Pagan & Wiccan Community: From the Past into the Future (Part 2) Back in Time We Go

1 history

When discussing the witch wars period, the general consensus is that it was the result of the uncontrolled egos of the witches involved that caused it all and that the Community is still trying to “live down” that period of time in our history. But was it really just because of ego? If so, what were the reasons behind the egos? Witches undergo a tremendous amount of training beyond the magick. Their training has a focus on control – control of one’s self, control of one’s environment, and control of the elements, as well as the magick. Training also includes … Continue reading

The Pagan & Wiccan Community and Shifting Paradigms

Eclipse

There is more in this world than us and our connection to the Divinity (in whatever way we choose to view divinity).  There are many layers, flavors, and textures of entities, beings, or energy forces.  It is this understanding that makes Paganism and Wicca a mystery belief system.  There is more than just black and white.  There are shades of grey, if you will for an analogy, between and beyond our own perceptions.  As such, we stretch and strive for a deeper understanding beyond the perceptions and, thus, expand the very boundaries of perceptions further and further.  We strive to … Continue reading

Whom Do You Serve? ~ Part 1 – Welcome to the Pantheon

You will often hear about pagan and wytches referencing their Gods. For outsiders and newbies, it seems rather a simple approach that should be similar to other modern religions, but it’s far more complex than it appears at first blush. Most modern religions (such as Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim) take control and responsibility for selecting the god you will commune with and, in fact, your choice is often limited to one. Not so in paganism or Wicca. We take the approach that we choose our gods as our gods choose you. (Another layer of the old saying, “As above, So … Continue reading

Amazing Magickal Moon For A New Year

Last night when everyone in the house was sleeping, the moon came to visit me through the window. It was a half moon full of the dark honeyed mead color. So rich and vibrant, it commanded my presence and I responded to commune with my Goddess in Her lunar aspect. These moments are always a mystical experience to me. This time She opened me to hear other callings of others coming through the night air. We only take new Seekers for training every two years or so and She has expressed that it’s time to open the window again. To … Continue reading

Protection – House Cleansing and Sealing (Repost)

Protection – House Cleansing and Sealing I thought I would share a little about protecting yourself and your home. Protections are mentioned, but I find in actuality, most seekers do not put the amount of attention into it as they should. Additionally, teachers and elders do not always stress the importance as much as they should because we do not want to feed any stereotypes, misconceptions, or general anxieties that new seekers may have when they arrive. A good teacher or elder wants seekers to travel their path in confidence and security not by intimidation, insecurity, or feelings of unworthiness. … Continue reading

Magickal Studies ~ Part 1

In the pursuit of magickal studies, we often travel certain paths or cycles in our training. One of the most favored is the elemental process. So deceptively simple at first glance, but by far one of the most complex processes when one goes beyond the surface of what is an element and what does it represent. The deeper one goes the more the mind and spirit encompasses the depths of these studies. The elements are not just spiritual beings in one direction or quarter of a circle that we occasionally embrace for some type of simplistic spell, but the development … Continue reading

Discernment of Opinions, Facts, and Truth

As with all concepts of the Craft and magickal workings, it remains important to not only understand the concepts themselves, but to also understand the history of those concepts as they have been preserved and presented to us. This study needs to include original and older manuscripts as well as newer writings and interpretations. Unfortunately, I often see references to “facts” as perpetuated from essays that were based on other essays concerning the interpretations and opinions of older manuscripts. While this is expedient time wise, it also perpetuates two concerns with our studies. (1) First, we also lose a great … Continue reading
