Upcoming Festivals – Florida Pagan & Wiccan Scene (Spring 2012) Phoenix Phyre & FPG

Phoenix Phyre (03/21 – 03/25/12 Lakeland, Florida) Over the years, Phoenix Phyre has changed locations throughout the State of Florida in past years, but has seemed to settle into Lakelad, which is more convenient for South Florida Pagans & Wiccans. Last time I attended this festival, we found ourselves just over the state line into Georgia.  Phoenix Phyre has always tended to attract a strong elder (“wise ones” not old people) base from the Community and we have a wonderful time catching up with old friends we hadn’t seen in a long, long time as well as meeting many more new friends. The Fall main … Continue reading

Shining Wheel Pagan Chorus ~ 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days Series 2012

SWPC 1

Shining Wheel Pagan Chorus is a Clearwater based band often seen at various pagan events and venues in Florida.  They have an eclectic flavor which reflects their obvious passion for our beliefs and the Community. In 1989, founding member Lori Newlove was a member of the chorus during the 2000-person ritual celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Starhawk’s iconic book The Spiral Dance, which inspired her to form the Shining Wheel Pagan Chorus from amongst the members of the Shining Wheel Coven in 1994.  In 2003, Shining Wheel Pagan Chorus released their first album, Chants Of Balance.  In 2011, “Elemental Children Of Earth” … Continue reading

Libana ~ 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days Series 2012

Libana

Libana is another Old School / Old Guard favorite in the Pagan and Wiccan Community.  Libana is a women’s world music ensemble and is still going strong in its 33rd performance season. The focus of the Libana ensemble has been to “illuminate(s) the creativity, vision, and spirit of the world’s women through the performance of traditional and contemporary music and dance. By raising awareness and appreciation for diverse cultural expressions and the universal themes that unite us all, Libana inspires intercultural understanding, healing, and peace building.” (See website.)  To that end, they have succeeded over the years and continue to be … Continue reading

Sharon Knight & Pandemonaeon ~ 28 Pagan Musicians In 28 Days Series 2012

Sharon Knight

We are kicking off the 28 Pagan Musicians in 28 Days series with Sharon Knight and Pandemonaeon.  I was so excited to here from Sharon Knight regarding this series and catching up on the projects and events she and Pandemonaeon have in the works .  She is, of course, widely adored in the Community with her amazing voice. Sharon comes from the Feri Tradition (with studies in Thelema and Tibetan Buddhism) and brings her stunning vocal, composing, and songwriting talents to us from California in what she describes as her “own style of Celtic-inspired folk rock which I call Neofolk Romantique.”   She is also the co-founder … Continue reading

My Discovery of Sybil Leek and My Path

516Qv4LQjgL__SL500_AA300_

I was born with memories and as I grew I did not forget those memories as most seem to do. Sometimes, I think that, in its primary sense along with the Sight, is what made me seem so different from other children and I suppose from adults as well. But when I was a young child, I did not think I was different than anyone else. I “knew” things, but I always understood visions or “the knowing” to be like pages in a book. While reading one page can tell you many things, it does not reflect the full story … Continue reading

Apologies ~ Posting Delays Due to Nasty Head Colds

After being down with two back-to-back colds, I have come to the conclusion that creativity must be located in the sinus cavities. When one is congested so is the other. Will be back with some new features shortly (tomorrow). Brightest of Blessings, Mead Muse
